Women on Mission (WOM) is one of ten groups under the umbrella organization of WMU (Women’s Missionary Union) that are focused on making disciples of Jesus who live on mission. WOM provides a community where women learn to live missionally by engaging in missions projects, ministries, prayer, giving, and bible study and by using their talents, skills, interests, and spiritual gifts. Check out the WMU Website: WMU
Join us on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5:30pm in the fellowship hall at Yorktown First Baptist! You do not need to be a member of our church, as this is a group that is non-denominational. For more information, please call or text the church at (870) 370-0318.
There are 3 focuses of Women on Mission and WMU:
- Missions Discipleship: teaching people of all ages about the work of missionaries throughout the world; leading our church to pray for and give to missions, and taking the gospel to our community and beyond.
- Compassion Ministries: Learning about issues around the world and exploring how we can help people experiencing poverty, human exploitation, displacement by disasters, and vulnerable children.
- Leadership Development: equipping women to discover and develop their leadership gifts and skills.
WOM Objectives:
- Praying for missions and missionaries
- Learning about missions
- Engaging in missions and witnessing
- Financially supporting missions
- Developing spiritually towards a missions lifestyle
- Participating in the work of the church and denomination

WOM decided to collect for shoeboxes year-round in 2023! If you have items to to contribute, things we can use to create kits, or can make items for shoeboxes, we would love to have you partner with us this year! Here is a list of items needed for both the shoeboxes and to create items for the shoeboxes!
Additionally, we have an Amazon Wish List, where you can purchase needed items and have them sent directly to us!
